My Digital Graphics Tools

Greetings All,
Over the years I have used a variety of graphics hardware and software for both 2D and 3D design. Back in the mid 1980’s my hardware was the Commodore 64 computer. It was my all purpose creativity tool. It was a 8 bit computer with 16 colors
For my C64 I had GEOS (Graphic Environment Operating System) by Berkeley Softworks. I updated to an real lightpen system called Flexidraw by Inkwell Systems, for desktop publishing projects I used Cut & Paste by Electronic Arts . I was also in to music production and used Will Harvey’s Music Construction Set by Electronic Arts, and The Music System by Firebird, Inc. Back in the 1980’s I was into playing video games and bought and traded dozens of them. I still have all of the Commodore hardware and software to this day.
 I was always mindful of the resolution the work that I was producing and wanted to have the highest resolution that I could afford at the time. I could not afford either the Commodore Amiga or the Apple Macintosh. My wife had IBM PC jr’s at her school and was able to bring one home for her summer break. I learned all that I could about the features of the PC jr. I taught myself to program in BASIC from all of the magazines containing programs that I typed into the C64 and had to error check. I was ready to get my own PC.
I bought a PC form a company called ZEOS International in 1989. It came with MS-DOS 4.0. I was already familiar with GEOS for the C64 so I bought the GEOSworks Ensemble for the PC. GEOS had a Draw, Publish, and Calc program. I could run all of my DOS programs from GEOSworks. I think that my first real graphics programs were bought PC PaintBrush by Zsoft and PFS: First Publisher 3.0 Software Publishing Corp.
In 1989 I got Microsoft’s Windows 386 and started using the Paint program that was included. I upgraded to Windows 3.0 and 3.11. I got CorelDraw v3. I was able to create raster and vector 2D graphic designs. I have upgraded to every version of Windows but 2000.
After seeing the 3D graphics in commercials and movies I wanted be able to learn to do that. I could afford Micrografx’s Simply 3D and Ulead’s Cool 3D. I still use these software tools today.
